District Board

The Capital District consists of Key Clubs in Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia. There are about 14,000 members and 228 clubs.
The first organized Key Club in the Capital District was Andrew Lewis High School in Roanoke, Virginia, chartered on April 11, 1946. The oldest active Key Club, however, is Abingdon High School in Abingdon, Virginia, chartered on October 18, 1946.

Within the Capital District, each club belongs to a division. There are currently 28 divisions, each with a Lieutenant Governor who serves the clubs. In addition, there are four executive positions—Governor, Secretary, Treasurer, and Editor—that also function on the District Level. These officers, plus the Lieutenant Governors, make up the Capital District Board of Trustees.

Lieutenant Governors are in charge of keeping in contact with the clubs in their division (of which there can be 5-15) and making sure they remain active and productive. These Lieutenant Governors also attend District Board Meetings where they discuss ways to help their clubs and develop their leadership abilities to better serve their clubs.
